A tribute to JOHN McCAIN (using a quote from his son following John's death in August of 2018, "Call the ball, Old Man, call the ball...it's a green deck for landing..."). John McCain - prior to being a US Senator and Presidential Candidate - was a US Navy Fighter Pilot based primarily on aircraft carriers. "Calling the ball" is what pilots do as they approach the carrier - the "ball" assists in orienting the aircraft for safe approach & landing. Of course, we all should know of the fact John McCain was a prisoner in Hanoi from 1967 until 1973 ... a TRUE AMERICAN HERO!

Call the ball ‘Old Man’, call the ball
It’s a green deck for landing, sky’s clear as an ringin’ bell
Call the ball, the Lord is waitin’
There ain’t no room for you in hell
Hanoi Hilton could not break you
Early release you shoved aside
You bore the scars from your internment
Yet you carried yourself with pride
Call the ball ‘Old Man’, call the ball
It’s a green deck for landing, sky’s clear as an ringin’ bell
Call the ball, the Lord is waitin’
There ain’t no room for you in hell
Vietnam was a long long time ago
Lessons learned there seared your mind
It shaped your life; then you made a difference
John – you’ve left a better world behind
Call the ball ‘Old Man’, call the ball
It’s a green deck for landing, sky’s clear as an ringin’ bell
Call the ball, the Lord is waitin’
There ain’t no room for you in hell
You’ve been to hell and back this we know
You’ve won, you’ve lost, but you would not be thrown
You’re riding high though your time on earth is through
You’re walking in the light - He’ll walk with you
Call the ball ‘Old Man’, call the ball
It’s a green deck for landing, sky’s clear as an ringin’ bell
Call the ball, the Lord is waitin’
There ain’t no room for you in hell
